About Dance Performance group and Quicksilver Senior Dance Company
Founded in 1989 under the artistic direction of Nancy Havlik Dance Performance Group is a small group of dancers and musicians who create improvisation-based pieces based on the stories embedded in our bodies. The ensemble is grounded in a sense of curiosity and in a taste for discovery. The finished performances take a sideways look at the world, out of the corner of the eye, “with a greater appreciation of the beauty of individuality, shown through the varying styles of the diverse performers” Carmel Morgan, Ballet News
Working with the Company, Havlik’s choreography has been performed extensively in venues across the Washington, DC. She has directed site work performances in places as varied as C&O Canal, the Building Museum, Barnes and Noble Bookstore, Josephine Butler Center and the Torpedo Factory Arts Center. Dance Performance Group was part of the 2015 Dance Place season, Atlas Intersections Festival in 2014 and 2015 and presented by Velocity DC Dance Festival.
Dance Performance Group pairs up with Quicksilver Senior Dance Company for performances at the NCCA Conference. Quicksilver is a dance improvisation company of older adults sponsored by Arts for the Aging under the direction of Nancy Havlik and violinist Anthony Hyatt that presents interactive arts workshops for frail seniors in senior day care centers, community centers and nursing homes throughout the Washington, DC area.
